Fenne Scholte (2000) is an upcoming artist from Utrecht. She released her first album “Hope” at 21, containing only original songs. This album was recorded by Arnout Leene. FENNE's music has been described as surprising, melodic and touching. By combining different genres, she's proving herself to be versatile and open to all sorts of music.
She graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Utrecht in 2022 and gave her graduation concert in a sold-out Cloud 9, Tivoli Vredenburg. FENNE had her own episode of "New Generations" on NPO2, telling about herself and her project at the time: finding your inner child again. In May 2022, she won the Charles Mingus Prize "Best Composition" for her song: "Wish I Could Sing".
Her first EP, "Beyond The Wall", a project about finding your inner child again, was released on the 24th of March, 2023. This EP was produced and recorded by Boudewijn Pleij.
In 2024, she recorded and released her second album, "Angel With A Darkness", with thanks to SENA, Amarte Fonds, Vokall Records and LAB music. This concept album contained 12 original songs about falling in and out of love, moving through the story in chronological order. This album was produced and recorded by Boudewijn Pleij. On this album appeared Alex van der Spek, Dirk Evelo, Daan Jonker, Lauran Neerincx and Isaac McCluskey. The album was distributed by LAB Music and Vokall Records.
“Angel With A Darkness” received over 7 million streams and is placed in Spotify playlists like "Next Wave Soul", "New Music Friday (NL)" and "Easy On Saturday". FENNE performed this album all over the Netherlands, on stages like Club 9 - Tivoli Vredenburg, De Doelen - Rotterdam and Splendor - Amsterdam.
Her newest album, “Mediocre Woman”, will release on the 16th of October, 2026.
OTHER PROJECTS
Besides her own project, Fenne has arranged and composed for ensembles like PARRA.DICE and Roctet. In 2024, she joined Kika Sprangers in her theatre project: "Dochters". A project with 9 singers (Anna Serierse, Veronika Akmetchina, Sylvia Boone, Elea Bekkers, Marit van der Lei, Nina Rompa, Līva Dumpe, Viktoria Nikolova) and a saxophone, performing contemporary pieces from different genres and different languages. She will join Kika again during her project “Hera”, coming September/October 2026.
Together with Laura de Bruijn, she sang backing vocals for spoken word artist Manu van Kersbergen, performing at North Sea Jazz 2025. Fenne and Laura both arranged backing vocals for this project and will write and arrange more vocals for his next album.
Fenne is also teaching private lessons at Songbird Zangschool and MuziekFabriek Utrecht.
